Youfinishedthepaperchase, nowwhat Youwait.Andwait. Fourteenmonthsofwaitingis almostimpossible.Allthenervous anticipationthatcomeswithmakinga decisionasimportantasinternational adoption,andallthefrustrationthat resultsfromgettingalltheforms andpaperworkcompletedseemstoo muchtobear.Youworksohardtobe organized,getfingerprinted,andput togetheryourdossier.Whatshould happenafterallthateffortisachild, forheaven'ssake!Youknowheor sheWILLcome...justnotrightaway. Whilerelievedtohavetheinitial partover,itisdisappointingtobe "teased"withnowhavingtowaitfor yourchild.Well-meaningpeopletell youto"hanginthere"or"justthink whatyoucanlookforwardto."But nothingseemstohelpyoufeelbetter aboutthewait.Youjustwantyour childhomeanditisincrediblyunfair thatyouhavetowait! CCAIhasseveralactivitiestoassist familiesduringtheirwait.The Circle andIn Touchpublicationshavehelpful articlesandthestaffintheDossier Departmenttriestocommunicate withinprocessfamiliesasmuchas possible.TheFloridaOfficestaffhas attemptedtomakesureallfamilies haveaccesstotheFloridanewsletter andwebsiteandmentorfamilies.Our reunionisplannedforNovember3– 4.Manyofyouarecomingandweare veryexcitedaboutit!Weare"there" withyou,sincemostofushavebeen throughtheprocessatleastonce! Hereisonesuggestiononhowto spendyourtimewhilewaiting.Weare currentlylookingforafewfamilies tobespecialmessengers!Youwould gettogetherwithotherfamiliesin yourareatoadvisetheFloridaCCAI Officestaffonthebestwayto"get thewordaboutadoption."Youwould assistusindevelopinga6-month planforinformationseminarsinyour community–identifyingplacesto holdthem,settingspecificdates,and gettingitpublicized. Asaresult,youwouldbedirectly involvedinhelpingtospreadthe messageaboutadoption.Whata greatwaytospendtimewhileyou arewaiting!Itmaynotgetyourchild homeanyfaster,butitsurewouldget lovingfamiliesformorechildren!
