Background
TheHistoryofChinaAgriculturalUniversity China'sAgriculturalUniversity(CAU)cantraceitsfoundationto1905whentheCollegeofAgriculture wasfoundedbytheQingDynasty.In1949,whenthePeople'sRepublicofChinawasformed,Beijing AgriculturalUniversity(BAU)wasformedwiththemergingofthreemajoragriculturalcollegesinBeijing. ThesecollegesweretheCollegeofAgricultureofPekingUniversity,theCollegeofAgricultureof TsinghuaUniversity,andtheCollegeofAgricultureofNorthChinaUniversity.In1952,theBeijing AgriculturalMechanizationCollege(BAMC)wasformedwhentheMinistryofAgriculture'sTractor School,BAU'sDepartmentofAgriculturalMachinery,andNorthChinaAgriculturalMachineryCollege joinedtogether.Theirnamewaschangedin1985toBeijingAgriculturalEngineeringUniversity(BAEU). Then,in2005,CAUwasformedwhenBAEUandBAUmergedintooneuniversity,anditisasubsidiaryto theMinistryofAgriculture.CAUhasbecomeoneofthetopagriculturaluniversitiesandresearch institutesinChina.Ithasoveronehundredyearsofhistoryandisconsideredoneofthebest agriculturalcollegesinChina. TheHistoryofBtCottoninChina BtcottonwasfirstintroducedcommerciallyinChinain1997,butithadbeeninexistencemanyyears beforehand.Itbeganin1991whenChinaAcademyofAgriculturalScience(CAAS)beganamassive researchprojectintoinvestigatingalineoftransgeniccottonthatwouldproduceitsowntoxin.Withina 2
