    Students react to primary concerns

    Staff Writers Mixed emotions over Tuesday's voting results reigned over campus conversation this week, and students were more than willing to voice their opinions. Hillary Clinton and John McCain won the Texas primaries for their parties. Mike Huckabee's decision to drop out handed the nomination over to McCain, but the surprise of the day was Clinton's victory since Barack Obama had been leading in the polls. Clinton only won by a close margin and it came as a surprise to Obama supporters on campus. Damarious Edwards, Pittsburg freshman, is an Obama supporter. He said he was very surprised at the outcome in Texas because he thought Obama would have more supporters here. Edwards feels that if Obama makes the presidential ballot, he won't win the presidency because he is lacking experience. Jeremy Crumpton, White Oak freshman, was also surprised at Clinton's victory, but he said if Obama does not make the ballot, he will change his vote in favor of the former first lady . "I admire what Obama said that Hillary is a fighter and he will just have to fight harder and longer," Crumpton said. However, the outcome came as a pleasant surprise to Clinton supporters, Cassie Bennett, Hallsville freshman, and Jarrett Goer, Dallas freshman. Bennett said she figured Clinton would win Texas, but her reason for voting for Clinton was to knock Obama off the ballot. Like Edwards, she thinks Obama is not as experienced. Goer is a very strong Clinton supporter and is happy that someone with a cause can finally win. Aside from wanting to aid tuition costs for college students, Clinton also wants to bring troops home from Iraq, and according to Clinton, military should be the last resort and not the first. Goer admires her standpoint on these issues. The race wasn't so close on the
