A LONG, COLD WINTER SEASON FOR WBC
After summer and fall seasons that were quite cooperative weather-wise, winter hit with a vengeance on December 26, with the first of several significant winter storms this season. Combined with continuous low temperatures, WBC sweep rowers and scullers were forced to stay off the water for an extended period. Frequent icing of the river and dense snow pack on the docks made rowing either impractical or unsafe during the entire period from January 9th through February 5th. evening rowing returning soon, in mid-March. As we reminded each other during the dark, cold days, in just a few months we may be concerned about weather conditions of the opposite extreme!
