Antarctica is the coldest and least-known continent on Earth. It is also a continent that is of great interest to human beings.
On November 12, Chinese scientists left Shanghai for the country's 24th expedition(考察) to Antarctica. Ninety-one people from the 188-member expedition team and 40 crewmembers (工作人员) were on the Xuelong, or "Snow dragon"
The rest of the team will go to Antarctica by air.
"The expedition will last for more than five months. We expect to be home next year" said Shen Quan, captain of Xuelong.
